Tutors' Alliance Ltd. is the organisation promoting professional tuition in the UK. It was set up by experienced languages tutor, Valerie Kemp LLB (Hons.), who wanted a way to prove she had the qualifications and experience required of a good tutor when she met prospective pupils. So as an alternative to a bundle of papers for pupils to wade through, Valerie devised the Tutor Check, a report detailing a tutor's academic qualifications, experience, references and credentials. This is a useful tool for parents and pupils to ensure their tutor has been subjected to a rigorous vetting procedure.

Choosing a tutor is a big decision for any pupil and ensuring their tutor is suitable is essential. Tutors' Alliance has as its primary concern, the safety of pupils. Therefore, all members of Tutors' Alliance must have an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (CRB/Disclosure Scotland) which must be renewed on an annual basis. In addition, Tutors' Alliance undertakes extensive interviews with all its tutors before they become members and keeps up-to-date with them on a regular basis.
For tutors, membership is divided into Basic and Professional levels. A range of services including a Guide to Tutoring, Insurance, a magazine and business support are available to tutors. Tutors' Alliance also offers services to agencies which are tailored to meet the needs of each and every individual agency.
In February 2010, Tutors' Alliance launched Tutor Workshops, the first of their kind. Training tutors ensures that the quality of Tutors' Alliance members' tuition in second to none.
Tutors' Alliance aims are to:
- Improve safety in the private tuition sector
