All tutors must read the following Terms and Conditions very carefully before applying for membership of Tutors' Alliance.

Tutor Check Terms and Conditions

1. An application for a Tutor Check must be made in accordance with the Guidance Notes and the information provided on the Application Form.

2. Any applications which are incomplete or incorrect will be returned for the tutor to remedy. There will be an additional £5 administration charge levied for the processing and mailing costs incurred by Tutors' Alliance.

3. Before a Tutor Check will be processed, payment must be made using the PayPal system on the Tutors' Alliance website.

4. All applications for a Tutor Check must be made in good faith. All information must be true and correct to the best of the tutor's knowledge and belief.

5. Any applications which contain information which is incorrect or untrue, whether these statements are made deliberately or negligently, will be returned to the applicant and no refund will be given.

6. Tutors' Alliance will only check academic qualifications which have been obtained in the United Kingdom.

7. All applicants must have previously obtained a Criminal Records Bureau or Disclosure Scotland check which is valid for the duration of the year for which Tutors' Alliance membership is applied.

8. Tutors' Alliance has the right to seek out information relating to the applicant from third parties in order to provide an accurate Tutor Check.

9. Tutors' Alliance will store applicant's information obtained for the Tutor Check in accordance with its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998. We will destroy the information once it is appropriate to do so. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

10. Although Tutors' Alliance endeavour to send out Tutor Checks 14 days after the application has been received, there is no guarantee that this can be done. Tutors' Alliance will however update applicants where there is to be a delay.

11. Tutors' Alliance may need to obtain further information from applicants in order to produce the Tutor Check. Applicants agree to co-operate fully with Tutors' Alliance to provide this information. Where information is missing and incomplete and the applicant cannot remedy this, then the application will be returned to the applicant. The payment will be refunded minus £15 which will be retained by Tutors' Alliance as an administration fee.

12. Any tutors who bring the name of Tutors' Alliance into disrepute will have their membership suspended at the discretion of Tutors' Alliance. No refund of fees will be made.

13. All information provided by Tutors' Alliance in the Tutor Check remains the intellectual property of Tutors' Alliance.

14. Tutors' Alliance will create the Tutor Check in a way which fairly reflects the information provided. The content of the Tutor Check is entirely at Tutors' Alliance's discretion.
