The service which puts pupils in touch with tutors

What is it?

Tutors’ Alliance offers a marketing service to basic members, professional members and agencies. All members are automatically given membership of the service although can opt-out if they wish to. The Tutors’ Alliance Connect service is designed to put pupils looking for a tutor in touch with a Tutors’ Alliance member in their area.

How does it work?

1.       Pupil calls Tutors’ Alliance with details of assignment.

2.       Tutors’ Alliance draws up shortlist of suitable tutors and e-mails firstly, agencies and professional members

3.       Agencies or professional members who are interested in the assignment reply to Tutors’ Alliance within 24 hours

4.       If no agency or professional member is available/interested, basic members are contacted and asked to reply within a further 24 hours

5.       Pupil receives details of interested tutors via phone or e-mail within 48 hours or earlier.

What do tutors need to do?

All tutors need to check their e-mails on a daily basis in order to ensure they receive details of requests for tutors from pupils. If tutors or agencies have no availability, please tell Tutors’ Alliance so that we do not send tutors requests from pupils. Tutors should also advise Tutors’ Alliance of holiday dates at their earliest possible convenience.

What does Tutors’ Alliance not do?

Tutors’ Alliance is not an agency and so we do not select tutors for pupils nor do we become involved in individual agreements. We will filter tutors to meet pupils’ subject and location requirements but we do not give information about individual tutors or agencies apart from their names, telephone number and/or e-mail address.

Examples – Tutors’ Alliance Marketing in Action

Mr Gordon

Mr Gordon is looking for a GCSE Spanish tutor for his daughter. He lives in London. He calls Tutors’ Alliance. Tutors’ Alliance asks Mr Gordon whether he is looking for an agency or a self-employed tutor. He replies that he does not mind. Tutors’ Alliance advises Mr Gordon that he will receive a call within the next 48 hours with the contact details of agencies or available tutors.

Tutors’ Alliance sends an e-mail simultaneously to all the agencies in London offering GCSE Spanish and all the Tutors’ Alliance Professional members who tutor the subject. One agency and one Professional member reply saying that they are interested.

Twenty-four hours after the initial call, Tutors’ Alliance calls Mr Gordon to confirm that an agency and a Professional member are interested. Tutors’ Alliance  gives Mr Gordon the name, e-mail address and telephone number of both and asks Mr Gordon to contact them directly to discuss his requirements further.

Sara

Sara is looking for a Higher Business Management tutor in Edinburgh. Sara calls Tutors’ Alliance and she specifies that she would like a self-employed tutor and does not want to use the services of an agency. Tutors’ Alliance advises Sara that she will receive a call within the next 48 hours with the details of available tutors.

Tutors’ Alliance does not have a Professional member who is able to tutor Higher Business Management but does have three Basic members. The three Basic members all receive an e-mail and all reply very promptly but only one has availability.

Tutors’ Alliance calls Sara within 6 hours of her initial call and gives her the contact details of the available Basic Tutors’ Alliance member who tutors Higher Business Management in Edinburgh.
